To ensure an equitable allocation of field practice time among the Majors and Minors teams, Little League has enacted the following guidelines for reserving practice fields during the regular season. Each league should focus practice time on their primary game field before seeking another practice location.
On weekdays there will be two official field practice time slots available: 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This maximizes field availability for practices.
Each team may schedule up to two batting cage sessions per week (Monday through Saturday). Keep in mind, batting cages 1 and 2 are reserved for Major League teams one hour in advance of their scheduled games, generally 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays.
No team practice may be scheduled on any field when a game is scheduled on that field. The field crew must have free access to prepare fields for games.
Teams are encouraged to share fields and practice with another team during the same time slot.
Christ the King field is available to the T7 league only.
All practices must be scheduled on the web site.
For any field, a rescheduled make-up game takes precedent over a scheduled practice, regardless of age or division, as long as the game is scheduled on the website.
The Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Clinic (Sports Awareness for Educating Today's Youth) is a three-hour program that meets the "Minimum Standards for Volunteer Coaches Safety Orientation and Training Skills Programs" (N.J.A.C. 5:52) and provides partial civil immunity protection to volunteer coaches under the "Little League Law" (2A:62A-6 et. seq.)
HLL requires all Managers and Coaches to complete this training course before they can be considered for team assignments within the HLL.
In the case of rainout, Haddonfield Little League has developed the follow that details the policy covering make-up games due to rainout or other circumstances that causes a game to be canceled. Field availability is scarce and this policy has been put in place to enable coaches to find a suitable replacement time and fields to try to make up rainouts. The League has enacted a field and rainout policy to try to get everyone maximum field time and avoid cancelations and scheduling conflicts with other teams.
RAINOUTS
For rainouts, a coach's first option is Sunday on his or her division's home field. Sunday slots are 12:30, 2:30 and 5:00 on home fields, plus 7:30 on field #1.
Second option is another open date on your home field working with the other coach.
Third option is an open date on a suitable field (teams that need mounds get mounds, machine or coach pitch get softball).
ALL MAKE-UPS MUST BE SCHEDULED USING THE WEBSITE AS A COURTESY FOR THE OTHER TEAMS.
Home fields are as follows;
Field #1 - Majors (mound)
Field #2 - Black Minors (mound)
Field #3 - Red Minors (mound)
CTK - White Minors (softball)
Scout Field - T7 (softball)
Central School - T6 (softball)
PRACTICES
Having so many make up games will obviously affect the ability for teams to find open fields for nights when they do not have a game. For that reason, we have evaluated each of the fields and other areas where we can hold practices. Due to the nature of the teams playing on them, we have had to rate them by size for usage and availability. FOR ANY FIELD, A GAME TAKES PRECEDENT FOR PRACTICE, REGARDLESS OF AGE OR DIVISION, AS LONG AS IT WAS SCHEDULED ON THE WEBSITE.
We have developed a matrix of practice fields for the season to show everyone the available practice slots and field availability. The matrix starts with the older kids to get them slotted into fields that can hold them and then we work down the age groups. Many times you may check to see if a team has a conflicting game schedule on the HLL website to see if you might request to use their practice slot.
